Description: 489 acres on glacier-fed Lake Wenatchee, in the northern Cascades. Boating, waterskiing, windsurfing, & jetskiing on the icy waters of the lake; white H2O kayaking (Class II) on the frigid waters of the Wenatchee River below the lake, down to US 2. Fishing for steelhead, salmon, & trout. Hiking, mountain biking, & horseback riding on several miles of trails through the park or in the adjacent national forest. In the winter, an average of 125 inches of snowfall & 25 miles of groomed cross-country ski & snowshoe trails tempts hardy visitors; a snowplay & sledding area tempts children. The area of the park north of the Wenatchee River is less developed, & the quiet forest is home to a number of animals, including bears, bobcats, coyotes, deer & elk, & small mammals. In the upper reaches of the park, you may glimpse mountain goats, marmots, & other altitude lovers.
The campground has 197 spaces, including two which are fully ADA accessible. Winter camping in the day use area. The picnic area includes a group shelter for up to 80 people. An ampitheater is open for interpretive programs, held regularly during the summer. Other facilities include a volleyball court & a golf course.
Location: From Leavenworth, go north on US 97 less than a mile, then about 18 miles north on WA 207.
Season: year round; sno-park permit required in winter.
