| Description: At 13,643 acres, this park covers most of the Selkirk Mountains in Washington. The view from the top of Mount Spokane (5883 feet) takes in Canada, Idaho, & Oregon. 86 miles of hiking & horse trails explore every nook & cranny of these gentle mountains, winding through old-growth forest & past granite outcroppings. About six miles of trail are open to bikes.
In the winter, this park receives about 300 inches of snow & becomes a popular destination for downhill & nordic skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, snowshoeing & dog sledding. Night skiing is available on lighted & unlighted trails. Five chair lifts service the downhill area, which rises 2000 feet.
The campground has 12 sites & a group area which can hold up to 100 people. Vista House is a historic granite lookout tower which can be rented, but which has no H2O or electricity.
Location: From Spokane, go about ten miles north on US 2, then 15 miles north on WA 206.
Season: year round, sno-park pass required in winter.
