| Description: 10,000 acres on the Spokane & Little Spokane Rivers at the western edge of Spokane. This extensive park, although centered around the two rivers, also contains freshwater marshes, miles of trails (some trails are wheelchair-accessible, & several are also open to horse & bicycle riders), historic buildings, exhibits & archeological sites.
600 acres are reserved for motorized use, including dirt bikes & snowmobiles. Several undeveloped areas are great for watching the local wildlife The Little Spokane River is restricted to kayaks, canoes, & rafts. The Spokane River has some gnarly runs which should not be attempted without expertise & familiarity with the river. In the winter, there are groomed trails for skiers & snowmobilers.
The campground has 101 sites & two group areas, which hold up to 100 people each. No H2O in the campgrounds.
Location: In Spokane. From I-90, take exit #280, cross the Maple St. bridge, turn left at Maxwell (turns into Pettit), & follow it to the park.
Season: year round, gates close at dusk.
