Campground: Rockport State Park

Description: 670 acres of old-growth forest near the confluence of the Sauk River & the wild & scenic Skagit River. Several miles of trails wind under the dense canopy, including access to one that climbs two miles through the adjoining Mount Baker- Snoqualmie National Forest, to the summit of Sauk Mountain (5400-foot elevation). Fishing, rafting & kayaking on the Skagit River (no access from the park). The campground has 58 campsites, including 50 with full RV hookups & eight primitive walk-in sites. Four Adirondack (three sided) shelters are also available for rent, which sleep up to eight people each. A plaque in the park commemorates David Douglas, the horticulturist for whom the Douglas fir is named. Location: From Concrete, go eight miles east on WA 20. Season: April one - November 1. Reservations: no.
