Campground: Sequim Bay State Park

Description: Camping on a quiet bay at the tip of the Olympic Penninsula, in a rainshadow formed by the Olympic Penninsula. The same sandbars which protect the bay also prevented discovery of this inlet by the first three expeditions which ventured into the Puget Sound. Visitors enjoy boating, jet skiing, & swimming in the H2O, or harvesting shellfish like clams, crabs, & oysters. A one-mile trail explores the inland forest, where you can see songbirds, deer, & the occasional trace of bobcats, bears, & coyotes. The campground has 63 tent-only sites & 16 with full RV utility hookups. A tent-only group campground holds up to 60 campers, & is open from mid-May - mid September. Camp Ramblewood Environmental Learning Center is a reservable rental facility for groups of up to 70 people. The ELC includes a lodge with fireplace & fully equipped kitchen, a sleeping lodge, two cabins, six adirondack sleeping shelters & an outdoor fire circle. Other facilities include a baseball field, a basketball court, a softball field, & an ampitheater for interpretive or group programs. Location: From Sequim, go three miles southeast on US 101. Season: year round; gates close at dusk. Reservations: for camping 800-452-5687; for the ELC call (360) 902-8600.
